Default ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone question

If the contacts list is empty and you try and set the i.setType(ContactsContract.CommonDataKinds.Phone.C ONTENT_TYPE) the statement will fail. Is there a way of capturing the exception and handling it more gracefully?

I have just run the example code from the Wrox site. My contact list is empty. When I click on the Choose Contact button I get a new screen with a "You don't have any contacts to display. To add contacts, press Menu and touch:...".

Are you sure your code is OK?

I am running the emulator as an Android 2.3.3 device.
