Default Screen examples in book

The screen examples at the start of Chapter 3 show half the emulator as displaying a keyboard and control keys, but these do not show up on my Eclipse android emulator when I use the same code indicated (for layouts).

Is this some setting on the emulator, or some fragments code that was not included?

Thanks in advance.

You're all kidding me, right? No one can answer my question?

Is the author of this book around? Anyone? Bueller?

Default Figures in Chapter 3

Hi Dan:
Can you let me know which figure you are referring to? I can take a look at it. Many thanks!

Actually, almost every figure in Chapter 3 showing the emulator has a keyboard and button pad displayed on the right side.

This is also how most of the emulator pictures look in your non-tablet Beginning Android Application Development book.

This keyboard and button pad does not show up on my Eclipse emulator, so I was just curious if I am missing an emulator setting, or this is a different version of the emulator? Or even just artistic license?

It doesn't take anything away from the books; I am learning a lot from them!

Dan

Default Figures in Chapter 3

Hi:
Oh, that's ok. The emulator images I used are based on the Android 2.x emulator images. The concepts covered in this chapter are applicable on the Android 3.x emulators as well. The reason I used the older emulator image is so that readers can learn the concepts quickly as the 3.x emulators are really slow. Hence, no worries!

Let me know if I have answered your qn. If not, give me a shout anytime!

Thanks!
Wei-Meng
