Default Chapter 3:The last example

In the last example of Chapter 3. The author didn't put runat="server" in the form tag because he wanted to specify in the action attribute the page(holidayresponse.aspx) that would handle the data that the user put. In my machine there was an error that I must put the runat=server else it could not play. I put runat=server in the form tag but then the action attribute changed value and became equal to holidaypage.aspx. What to do please? I also notice that the code for this example doesn't exist in your downloadable code.

Hi there,

I think the book was written against the beta of the .NET framework. If I am not mistaken, early .NET betas supported pages that submitted to another page, instead of posting back to itself. However, as you found out, this is no longer supported (but again will be in future versions of ASP.NET).

Search this forum for "holidayresponse". You'll see a couple of posts dealing with this topic, and some work arounds.

Cheers,

Imar
