compilation (chapter 13)
Here is my question: on page 473 of the book there is an example of how to compile a class and make a dll file. I did exactly what's on the example, but I keep getting an error.(vbc is not an internal command, external command) Please if anyone can help. By the way I am using webmatrix and have windows xp home edition.

Hi there,
Sounds like it can't find the .exe file vbc. Make sure you have the path to this exe in your PATH statement. You'll find the .exe at this location:
WindowsFolder\Microsoft.NET\Framework\Your.NETVers ionNumber
Either add this folder to the path statement under Windows, type the full name and path of the .exe file or navigate to the folder above and type in your commands. The latter solution isn't really great, because then you'll have to type in the full path to your source files.
Alternatively, get an IDE like Visual Studio .NET or look into build tools like Nant.
Cheers,
Imar

Where did you get that error? In a command prompt?
And is the .NET Framework 1.1 installed on the machine where you are running vbc.exe?

Hi,
I think you are trying to run vbc.exe from the normal command prompt. You Need to run it from Visual Studio 2003 Command Prompt, it can be found in your Start >> Visual Studio.NET 2003 >>Visual Studio.NET Tools
