Default Web Matrix gone?

Hey everyone,

I just cracked into the book this week and I wanted to download Web Matrix from www.asp.net. I was able to see the download link on Monday but I did not download it at that time. I went bak today to download it but I can't find it anywhere.

Instead, it seems to have been replaced by "Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition." After doing some reading up on this program, it seems to be geared toward ASP.NET 2.0 Beta as well as Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express. Will I be able to use this program with ASP.NET 1.1 as well as a simple Access database?

Thanks for your time.

You should be able to. ASP.NET 2.0 is backwards-compatible with 1.1. However, be wary of the new controls that aren't supported in 1.1 if you are going to deploy a site to a 1.1 server.

Thanks fellas. I'm going to follow the book along with WebMatrix, then hopefully I can dive into this new 2.0 stuff soon.

In fact Matrix to me seems like a better learning tool because it doesn't clutter things up with a lot of IDE-generated stuff...
