Default Server Error in '/BegASPNET' Application

I am working through the book Beginning ASP.Net 1.0 with Visual Basic
.net. I am also working with Dreamweaver 4mx. Whenever I try to access aspx files , I get messages similar to those below. THe following was obtained when trying to access the simple first time
aspx file described on p.71. One puts the path http://localhost/
BegASPNET/ch02/message.aspx in the browser and gets this complete error message:

Server Error in '/BegASPNET' Application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Access to the path "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temp orary ASP.NET Files\begaspnet\35b40f53\76140c67" is denied.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\Temp orary ASP.NET Files\begaspnet\35b40f53\76140c67" is denied.

ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}\ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.

To grant ASP.NET write access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.

Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

Why can't .net access its own temp files. If one follows the recommendations of the error message and attempts to explicitly
give permissions to the machine\aspnet account full control to
this temp file, it can't be found. It is just a fleeting temp file.
What do I do?

I am having the same problem. My web application works on my WinXP Prof SP2 computer but when I put it on a Win2K server computer I get the same error you describe. Have you found a solution yet?

I came across this problem and one solution, at least it worked for me, is to go to the properties of the virtual directory (in the IIS) in which you have the WebService and set the application protection to Low(IIS process).
