Default Web Site Admin Tool SQL Problem

Hello,
I'm at page 16 of the book and when I click on Security I get the message "Cannot connect to SQL Server Database".

I run two instances of SQL Server:
1- SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition
2- SQL Server 2005 MSDN Standard Edition

The database aspnetdb is properly attached to the SQL Server 2005, which it's instance name is not the default name.

There is probably a config file somewhere that I can modify to enter the SQL Server 2005 instance but I cannot find it.

Any help, please?

Thanks!
Pierre

Default

This is because you started the project via File->New->Project which doesn't add the App_Data folder to the project. If you create the project as File->New->Website you won't have this issue.

To add the App_Data folder click the "Show All Files" and then right-click the App_Data folder and add it to the project.

In addition, if you stay with the project, you will have issues with adding the Data Access Layer since it will not place the Roles.xsd into the App_Code folder which will cause problems with building the Roles manager. You could fix this as well, but at this point I gave up and switched to a Website instead of Project.
