Default Chap 8 - Try It Out Page 270 - 271 VB

Hey I tried several times to do this try it out and when I run the page and update the data in the GridView I get the following error

The data types text and nvarchar are incompatible in the equal to operator.

Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The data types text and nvarchar are incompatible in the equal to operator.

I re-copyed the zip file several times. I even went so far as to delete the Grid View, Details view and the data sources and start from scratch but nothing doing.

I would be nice if the sample/ Execise code was more consistant with the book. Ive noticed several complaints on this fourm about the sample code being different then what the book describes and I've been experiencing the same thing. Its kind of fustrating trying to learn this stuff when you have to continually run into these roadblocks. :(

Nevermind i just copyed the file over one more time and for some reason now it works.

There is still the inconsistansies of the sample code and what is shown in the book.

for example in this Try it out the book displays all the fields of the fixtures in the Gridview control. but the sample code only show the fixtureID FixtureDate and Opponent. I know this is small potatoes but still annoying none the less.

anyways I feel a little better that I got it to work

I'm getting the same error: The data types text and nvarchar are incompatible in the equal to operator. I'm using the code from the begin section chapter 8. You copied over the file with a new download. Any idea why this error occurs?

thanx.....
