I wasn't referring to the database tables, but to the errata section of this web site where readers can report known errors.

BTW, it would help if you'd specify the exact page here on P2P where the source can be downloaded, what file to download, and the name and location of the page in the web site you're having problems with.

the book is called Beginning ASP.NET 2.0 with C#. so if you download the code for chapter 7 and run it you would face the same error. the try it out is on page 248

i sent you the link where you can download the chapter 7:

download the chapter 7, and once you have unzip it load the gallery.when you pick any value from the drop down menu, it does not show the result.

Please.... If you want help: help us help you. I have asked you a number of very specific questions: On top of that, a reiteration of what's on page 248 and before, what you expect the page to do and what it does in reality would also be very useful.

Without answers to these questions, I don't see how you can think we can help you....

It looks like you really don't want help with this, as you're making it as difficult as possible..... ;)

Gallery.aspx does NOT have a DropDownList that you've shown here. On top of the that, the page seems to work fine for me. Granted, you don't see a lot, but I think it behaves as it should as there isn't a whole lot of data. I do see "Aaron, in full flow" pop up every now and then.

So, again, and for the last time: if you want help: be specific. Please answer all the questions I asked earlier, describe the problem in detail, look at the data in the underlying tables and so on. Without all that, I can't help you.

Ok then, I will be as much specific as I can. The following link is an example of what the book describes wroxunited.net/Gallery.aspx. For example if you pick clatterham town - 28 Nov 04 then brinks the result with a printed image. On books example does not show anything! On this website the gallery works properly. What it does, is when you pick an option from the drop down menu, then looks in the database and prinks the result in a memo box. On books example does not do that ex. when a pick an option from it then does not show anything on the memo box. I looked on the database table to check if there are register and indeed there are. I copied so many times the code that the book shows and does not work either. Hope this help.

Not really, but I'll show you what I see / did in order to help you understand how it's supposed to work.

1. I downloaded the source of chapter 7.

2. I see the following code in Gallery.aspx in the SqlDataSource:

SELECT [Notes], [PictureURL], [UploadedByMemberName] FROM [Gallery] WHERE ([FixtureID] = @FixtureID)

3. This means that the Gallery table is queried for items with a matching Fixture ID

4. The DropDown is filled with Fixtures, from the Fixtures table:

1 Mellingham
2 Fulchester Rovers
3 Wilstone Wanderers
4 Wilstone Wanderers
5 Whetwang Wallabies
6 Clatterham Town
7 Ponsonby Athetic
8 Buychester United
9 Mellingham
10 Buychester United

5. When you choose an item from the drop down, the page reloads and gets the related Gallery items. This table contains the following:

1 1 lou Aaron, in full flow aaronson.jpg

6. So, there is exactly one item in that table, for Fixture ID 1. All the others will show a blank page of results. When I choose Mellingham from the DDL, I do get the Gallery records as expected.


The site you linked to seems to be down, so I can't check what you are seeing there.
