Hi everyone,

I am a third year student in college and am looking for the source files for each chapter in the book. The instructor provides some of them, but not all of them. I am currently working in chapter 8 and would like to know if there is anywhere we can download the source files for the "Try It Out" lessons that we can build on? I have the entire WROX site files, but those pages are completed and there is nothing to really do in them and I cannot really follow along with the book in them. I need the files that allow me to work along with them.

I have to say, I am very disgusted that 3.5 is out and we are learning 2.0. That just goes to show me that the school is seriously lagging behind in the technology education race. But enough of my rant... if anyone could tell me if there are source files to download, I would be ever so grateful...then I can get the most out of this online education I am paying thru the nose for.

...now I am actually working on the first Try It Out and I run into an error message on the 3rd step. I am supposed to "Select the sqldatasource2 control, (used by the detailsView) open its common tasks panel, (which I did) and click on configure Data Source.(which I did). I selected WroxUnitedConnectionString for the connection and when I try to proceed by clicking next, I get an error stating [Database schema could not be retrieved for this connection.]" How do I get around this error? what are my choices?

I really want to learn this stuff but am at a loss for configuring the files.

Hi Kippy. Dan our technical editor on this book was kind enough to write an updated Appendix B that might help you with the configuration issues you are having. Please see this thread:
