Default LINQ question

Dear Imar,

I'm working on Chapter 13 on your book. When i tried to add LinqtoSQLOjects, my VWD said that the dbml.dbml under LinqtoSQLBojects.zip folder is missing, so is there any way to find that missing file? Thanks for your help.

Thang

Hi Thang,

That's a pretty unclear question. First of all, there's no dbml.dbml mentioned anywhere in the book. You are instructed to created a PlanetWrox.dbml file. Secondly, the book doesn't mention a file called LinqtoSQLBojects.zip at all.

Finally, I don't see how VWD can report that a .dbml file is missing from a .ZIP file.

So, can you please elaborate how, when and where you get this error?

Imar

Yes, I think so. Maybe not you, but at least the VWD installer / IDE as something seems messed up.

Any idea where LinqtoSQLBojects.zip comes from?

I have no idea where that come from. I did install Ajax toolkit, could that be it? Or should I reinstall VWD?

Yes, I think reinstalling might help.

Only now I noticed a spelling mistake in the file name.
I do indeed have LinqToSQLObjects.zip files under my Program Files\Visual Studio folder. They contain .dbml files.

AFAIK, these files are installed by Visual Web Developer, so if they are missing, reinstalling may indeed be a good idea.

Are you using the RTM version of VWD and not a beta? Google came up with this bug report which applies to a beta version: http://connect.microsoft.com/VisualS...dbackID=292671

Cheers,

Imar

I've reinstalled VWD, and it seems to solve the problem. Thanks for your help.
