Default Connection Chapter 11?!

I have a problem when I'm going to create a data connection to PlanetWrox.mdf

After that I have moved over both files to App_Data and when I double-click PlanetWrox.mdf I get the following error:
"An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)"

I have a Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition installed on my computer then before, and SQL Server Management Studio which I installed before I bought the VS 2008.

I have checked on IIS settings that you describe in Chapter 18 but could not find anything wrong.

Check want someone help me? Thank you!

Hi there,

Are you sure you have a local instance of SQL Server installed called (local)\SqlExpress? Maybe you just installed the tools and not the database server?

Try connecting to .\SqlExpress or (local)\SqlExpress using SQL Server Management Studio. Does that work?

Hi and thanks for a super fast response!

I found the solution, I had to login in with my login sa id, and not Windows Autho ...

And then I had to import mdf file, and not open it. A bit messy with Windows Vista. But as I said the problems have been resolved. Woho... :D
