Default Page 239 Virtual Path Property

When I change the root of the web project in the Solution Explorer
from /Website1 to /, I get the following build error:
Warning 1 C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1\Default.aspx: ASP.NET runtime error: Failed to map the path '/ /App_GlobalResources/'. C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1\Default.aspx 1 1 C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1I have no idea why it is trying to reference App_GlobalResources.
I think I have followed the Try It Out instructions exactly.
Thanks.

Hi there,

Is there a folder called App_GlobalResources? If so, it's not used in Planet Wrox so you can safely delete it. ALso, did you restart VWD and the built-in web server (in the Windows tray) and see if that helps?

Otherwise, can you explain a bit more about your set up (folder structure, pages and so on).

Cheers,

Imar

Do not have a App_GlobalResources folder.
Start/stop of VWD and built in server didn't make any difference
Solution explorer shows:
C:\BegASPNET\Website1
app_data
default.aspx
  default.aspx.cs
header.jpg
web.config

Properties shows: virtual path /
works okay when virtual path /website1

output window shows:
Warning 1 C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1\Default.aspx: ASP.NET runtime error: Failed to map the path '/ /App_GlobalResources/'. C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1\Default.aspx 1 1 C:\BegASPNET\WebSite1Error 2 Failed to map the path '/ /App_GlobalResources/'.

Source shows:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="_Default" %>

Note: The page line above has a wavy blue line all the way across.

DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
    <title>Untitled Page</title>
</head>
<body>
    <form id="form1" runat="server">
    <div>
        <asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" ImageUrl="Header.jpg"/><br />
        <asp:Image ID="Image2" runat="server" ImageUrl="/Header.jpg"/><br />
        <asp:Image ID="Image3" runat="server" ImageUrl="~/Header.jpg"/><br />
    </div>
    </form>
</body>
</html>

P.S. I get this same problem when I run it on my trial
copy of Visual Studio on my other computer.
I was going to attach a screen snapshot but didn't know
how to attach it.
Thanks,
Norm

Did you Google for:

Failed to map the path '/ /App_GlobalResources/'.

I just did, and I get a number of similar problems and possible solutions. Since many of them are unrelated to each other, you'll need to see what works for you.

Cheers,

Imar
