Default Chapter 1 - IE cannot display the webpage

Hello,
I just started on Chapter 1 and I cannot get the page to display in IE7. I'm using vista and a new install of VS2008 Pro. I've double checked the code and tried ctrl-F5 and right clicking on the Default.aspx file and selecting "View in Browser" but neither method works.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Matt

When you say doesn't display in IE do you mean it displays in another browser or are you getting a build error etc?

If you could be more specific about your problem more people can help you.

Sorry for the lack of information. I'm not getting a build error, but when it opens up the browser window to display the page I just get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message.

I have not tried it in any other browsers (none installed at the moment).

The port # on the development server and the URL passed to the browser are the same. I noticed several threads mentioning they were out of sync but that is not happening here.

I also saw that certain Antivirus programs (NOD) may block the web server access. However, I'm using AVG and don't see any advanced settings that might be causing this.

Thanks for the help.

Maybe it's an issue with Windows Defender: http://blogs.msdn.com/webdevtools/ar...s-working.aspx

Hi icculus,

I think you should thank Lee Dumond as he posted about this here on the Wrox forum:

IMPORTANT: March 9 Windows Defender Issue

Cheers,
