Default MasterPage Attribute alink "Outdated?"

I recently received an error message on the masterpage as follows:

"Validation (XHTML 1.0 Transitional):
Attribute 'Alink' is considered outdated.
A newer construct is recommended."

It's the <body> tag that looks like this:

<body alink="#ffeebb">

Any ideas as to how this is supposed to be written now (i.e., an updated construct)? Interesting because it's worked all along until now. Strange.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Yes, attributes like alink and vlink still work, and probably will for the forseeable future. However, they are considerd outdated now and have been replaced with CSS which makes it much easier to reuse the definitions across multiple pages. Take a look at page 83-85 with the code in step 13 in particular to learn how it's done in CSS.

Cheers,

Imar
