[FONT='Calibri','sans-serif']I followed through pages 220 – 226 and something quite awkward happened. Figure 6-18 appeared [DarkGrey] exactly as expected but figure 6-19 [Monochrome] didn't appear as expected. The layout was correct but no images are displayed. Furthermore, when applying the dropdown list it didn't change from DarkGrey to Monochrome . the only way to see the DarkGrey option was to change the web config. When web config was configured to Monochrome I couldn't see any images again.[/FONT]

Hi Dan,

Did you include all the required images and CSS files under the Theme's folders? Does everything look like Figure 6-17 on page 219?

With regards to not switching the theme automatically, check the following:

1. AutoPostBack is set to True on the DropDownList
2. You have code in the Master Page to store the cookie
3. You have code in the BasePage that reads the cookie and applies the theme
4. The page you're trying this on inherits from BasePage

Hope this helps; if not please provide more information about your pages, the code they contain, the way you browse to them etc.
