Chapter 12 Try It Out P.393
I haven't had any issues up to this point but when I try to render the Genre.aspx page in my browser it takes me to the login page. I log in using the manager account I created and it takes me to the login page again only this time with the "logged in template" and all I see on the page is "You are already logged in" I can't see my gridview or play with the functionality. I assume I have an incorrect value in code somewhere but I have no idea where.
Any Ideas?

Hi there,
Security isn't discussed unitl Chapter 15 so I am bit surprised to see it's causing problems in Chapter 12. Did you add any security settings to web.config youself?
Can you also post the relevant code of this page and the web.config file?
Imar

Hello Imar,
Amazingly fast response, Thank you!
I did jump ahead to 15 to look at security and I worked through all of the Try It Outs in the chapter so I have the management role in effect. One of the reasons I am reading your book is for an internship and the project I have been assigned to deals with security.
I'm not totally sure what the "relevant code" so I will give you all of the code....sorry....
Also in the management/web.config i have only added the empty theme tag:
Code:
<pages theme=""></pages>
, nothing else.
Code:

Hi there,

it takes me to the login page again only this time with the "logged in template" and all I see on the page is "You are already logged in"

It looks like you do indeed get logged in correctly, but then are not allowed to enter /Management with your account. Take a look at this:
Code:
<location path="Management">
<system.web>
<authorization>
<allow roles="Management"/>
<deny users="*"/>
</authorization>
</system.web>
</location>
You're blocking access for everybody except users in the Management role. This leads me to believe that the account you're using is not assigned to this role. Maybe the role is called Managers? Check the WSAT to be sure....
Cheers,
Imar
