Hello Imar,

I have a problem with deploying my web site, I have Windows XP Professional and I configured the ASPNET account in the IIS as you wrote in your book. But when I try to open the web site in the browser it fails.

I opened the IIS dialog box and I found under Web Sites node the following :
"Default Web Site (Stopped)".

I right clicked on it and tried to start it but I got the following error :
"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".

Can you please help me find a solution ?

That's difficult to say / debug remotely. It looks like the IIS process is not able to start. This could a security issue, a performance issue if it takes too long to start up, or a configuration issue (wrong patches, service packs etc). Is the Windows event viewer telling you anything more?

If I search Google for the error, I get a number of results, with different causes and resolutions. Maybe you recognize some of them?
