Hi Imar,

To persevere is grand when in the end it works!

Man I tried a lot of things. I found a site on Google that explained quite a number of things that could cause my problem. Went through all of them and I had already done everything they mentioned. I decided to reboot the SQL 2005 server. After a considerable amount of time researching the Internet, I decided to try to connect one last time. Low and behold . . . it worked! Unfortunately after everything I tried I'm not sure what did fix the problem, but I'll take it. Thanks for all your help, even though you didn't come up with the answer you made me think and try different things. I appreciate that tremendously.

Now to see if I can duplicate this on my other projects.

Yeah!

Fred

You're welcome. That's often the only thing I can do in these kind of situations.

Cheers,

Imar

Hey Imar,

I figured out why it was erroring out. In the connection string I was specifying the server name for the data source. I changed it to it's internal IP address and it works. Apparently from local webserver (ASP.NET Development server), it can resolve my server name to the corresponding internal IP address. But when I try it from outside of my network (Using IIS) then the internal address cannot be resolved.

Mystery solved! Just need to figure out why, but for the meantime I've left the internal IP address instead of server name in the connection string in web.config.

Again thanks for your help I appreciate it greatly.
