Campare with .NET 4.0
Hello, Imar,
I want to know if I go through the Beginning ASP.NET 3.5: in C# and VB book, need I buy the 4.0 book to go through again? What are the main differences of these? And I want to buy the Professional book to continue studying, which book do you suggest to buy, 3.5 or 4.0?
Thank you.

It depends on how well you understand stuff when you've finished the book. Some readers report they moved from the Beg. 3.5 to the Pro 4.0 edition, which seems to make a lot of sense to me. 4.0 being the latest version, it's good to focus on that, and not on the older version.
Some others have e-mailed me and said that even though they did have Beg. 3.5, they bought the Beg. 4 version and still learned a lot of new stuff.
The 4.0 version introduces two new chapters on jQuery and Entity Framework (replacing the LINQ to SQL chapter). All the other chapters have been thoroughly update with all the new stuff in ASP.NET 4 and VS 2010.
Cheers,
Imar

Dear Imar,
Thank you. So it may good to get the Beg 4.0 to go quickly through all the parts except the new 2 chatpers, then study these two chapters. Although I do not want to spend time on the stuff which I have doing well. And your book is really good, for now I am going well through it.
Thank you again.

If you have / will get the new book, I suggest you do read it all, or at least most of it, but increase your reading speed a bit when you see a lot of familiar stuff.
ASP.NET 4 and VS 2010 bring a lot of new features, so you'll see new stuff in a lot of places; not just in the two new chapters.
Cheers,
Imar
