Default Chapter 9 - Net IO ConnectionClosed

Hi Imar,

I've been reworking through some of the Try It Outs in the book. When I originally worked through the Try It Out that starts on p. 314, I got it to work with no problem. Now, though, I'm getting the following error:

Unable to read data from the transport connection: net_io_connectionclosed.

Nothing on my computer has changed...the code has not changed. I don't know what's causing this error and internet searches on the subject haven't been helpful/user-friendly.

Here's the code I have in my web.config:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>

I've also included setting the port at 25 and it doesn't help. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi Jason,

Does Yahoo / your account at Yahoo allow you to send mail through their servers?

Also, have you tried another mail account (Gmail, maybe) or a local drop folder?

Cheers,

Imar

Hmmm, I switched to gmail and it works fine. This is strange because when I went through this Try It Out the first time I used my Yahoo mail account and it worked fine. I don't know what happened between then and now. Oh well, as long as it works now. Thanks!

Maybe Yahoo changed the rules? Maybe SMTP is only accessible to their Plus account subscribers?

Amyway, yes, as long as it works.... ;-)

Cheers,
