Default Problem on Chapter 11, page 356 step 5. Please Help!

Hi Imar!

I have a little problem with the first Try It Out on Chapter 11.

When I selected the files PlanetWrox.mdf and PlanetWrox_log.ldf and drag them into the AppData Folder of the new web site, I recieved the next error:

"Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed."

that's why I uninstalled Microsoft SQL 2005 and Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express. I install them again and when I was installing Microsoft SQL 2005 Express I selected "default instance" and in Service Account I selected "Local System" and in Authentication "Windows Authentication Mode". Now when I drag the two files from the Resources folder into the AppData Folder I don't get the previous error but when I try to expand the connected database (step 5) I get this error:

Could not load file or assembly
‘Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91’ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Do I have to type something When I choose Tools | Options | Database Tools | Data Connections in VWD?? I choose default instance when I installed SQL2005. The appData folder have the security tab and I've enable named pipes and TCP/IP. I don't know where is the error .

Thanks!!

I think this is book is great and I've learned a lot about ASP.net and VWD, you've done a great job!!

AAmm, sorry for my bad english but this is not my original language.. I study English and programming at the same time

Imar, that post helped me , Thanks so much!! I couldn't install Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types but I installed the other two files (Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client) and.. It works. Now I can expand the connected database (step 5 works fine). Your help solved my problem, that error made me mad but now I'm really happy :) Your job is great. Thankssss!!

It was quite a coincidence I remembered that post. I ran into this issue about 1.5 year ago and logged it in some text document associated with the project I was working on. Last week I saw that document again, and when I saw your post I recognized the exception you got.

Good to hear it's working now.

Cheers,

Imar
