Default Other databases?

Hi Imar,

Working my way through your excellent book when my boss asked the inevitable "What databases can we use for the back end?". We unfortunately are not a SQL Server shop but would like to use the security features and other cool stuff that's built in to ASP.NET. Are there other databases we can use to manage user profiles and such using the .NET tools, or do we have to leave the tools alone because we can't get them to play with Oracle?

Any insight you can provide is most welcome.

TIA,
Mike Preston

Hi Mike,

Oracle has providers for various services such as membership. I never used them so I don't know how well they behave. Here's some more background information:

http://download.oracle.com/docs/html...roOverview.htm
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/to...ex-087367.html

Hope this helps,

Imar
