Default Field should not be mandatory

Hi,

The below error appears when I fill in a form(leaving Finish Date blank) and hit Insert.

I dont want the Finish Date to be mandatory. How do I change this?

Ah, sorry Imar.

It's not actually related to an exercise from the book. I worked through your book and am now trying to create a site of my own based on what I learned from the book.

Ah, in that case, you're better off posting in a general ASP.NET category from this list: http://p2p.wrox.com/asp-net-3-5-436/ as that way you'll attract more viewers.

That said, if you want to the field to be nullabe you need to make it nullable in the database as well. Right now, it seems you're sending DateTime.MinValue whose value is too small for a datetime in SQL. You need to define the DateTime as nullable in .NET as well, or send a null value to the database. How to do that is hard to say without knowing more about your code and setup.
