Default Using the files provided in different chapters

I want to use files that I downloaded for other chapters. There are no directions to do such. Do I start a new project and point to the chapter folder? I can't figure out how to create a solution that will allow me to access those files. I want to go to chapter 12 and try and have data saved to disc from a web page but I can't get all the supplied files to find each other. I have had the same problem with chapters 4 and 5. It is great that you provide them but I can't access them. Thank you for your help.

You can open each chapter as a WebSite not a project. For example you could open chapter 5 by opening c:\BegASPNet\Source\Chapter 5 as a website. This assumes that you downloaded the source files and put them in c:\BegASPNet. I believe that if you want to have all the functionality for a given chapter already done you could open the next Chapter as a website. I'm going from memory here so Imar Spaanjaars may need to correct my possibly faulty memory.

Default Thank you very much

That appears to work as it did open and I then picked on one of the files and it displays in the edit window. I am totally new to this and having a horrible time trying to learn it. I know part of the problem is I am older than "dirt" but my brain still functions reasonably well. Thank you for your reply it is very much appreciated.

Good luck on your learning. I hope you have some time to master it. It's whenever I have an impossible deadline that the learning becomes aversive.

It's normal to feel a little lost at the beginning when you're trying to find how everything is done and how things are related. Try to go through the examples in the book and do the exercises if you have time. I am not all that young myself. I think you'll do fine.

Take a look at the introduction of the book (page xxxiii and further). It explains how to open the sites from the source code that comes with the book.

Cheers,

Imar
