Default Chapter 6 and Internet Explorer 11

Not sure if others have this issue, but I was stuck in Chapter 6 in the TRY IT OUT on page 230.

When I run Default.aspx with Internet Explorer 11.0.13 it won't store my preferredTheme cookie. Oh sure it's probably my security and cookie settings I need to change, but why should I need to.

As a result I could not select the DarkGrey theme.

When I run Default.aspx in Chrome Version 38.0.2125.104 m I can select DarkGrey and Monochrome, without having to tweak security and/or cookie settings.

It seems your browser has non-default settings for cookies. Normally, when IE is installed, cookies are accepted. Maybe you're on a corporate network where this has been restricted?

Cheers,

Default Moving On

My IE II is at home, where I do most of my learning.

I probably should tweak IE to store cookies but most of all I'm happy the code runs and I can move on in the book.
It's not the meat of what I want to learn and it was stalling me.

Chrome and Firefox have no trouble with the cookie, but even after changing my IE 11 settings so all cookies are accepted, the drop down in Default.aspx won't change the theme to DarkGrey. Some may say, why are you using IE? Because I work (Intranet) behind a large corporate (Microsoft "shop") firewall and they're still using IE 8! Modernizer (cross browser code) is never needed, but I someday I want to venture outside that sand box.

Since I got things running in Chrome and Firefox the IE cookie issue can wait for now.

Thanks for reply Imar!

If it's only IE and cookies are allowed, then it might be something else. Try clearing your cookies first and then use the F12 developer tools to see if the cookie gets set.

Cheers,
