Default End of Chapter

I managed to finish chapter 2 today. At the end of the session, I wanted to shut down VS. A dialogue box showed up asking:
Save changes to the following items? localhost_62270.sln

I am not sure what I should do. I clicked "No" on the assumption this localhost is on dynamic IP and changes every time I get into it. Am I doing the right thing?

In addition, do I need to save files when I exit VS? The text book is silent on this.

It's just the name of the Solution File on disk; you can name it anything you want and save it on your local disk. The solution file contains a reference to your web site and is mostly useful if you're grouping multiple sites and projects in a single solution. When you've the solution file it shows up on the Start Page from where you can open the site. You can still open the site using File | Open website and completely bypass the solution file.

>> the assumption this localhost is on dynamic IP

Unrelated to the solution file, but localhost always results in the same local IP address: 127.0.0.1.

Hope this helps,

Imar

For the purpose of working through the book, do I need to save the Solution File on my local disk? If so, does it matter where I save them? Must I save it into the "Site" folder?

You can, but you don't have to. I would do it, so you can open the site from the Start Page.

You can save it anywhere you like on your local disk. I typically save them in the parent folder of my project / web site.
