Default ASP.NET in today's world!!

I'm in college right now and we are at a point where we make a jump from windows forms to ASP.NET MVC. I came to the conclusion that I am not aware of many (popular) sites using it. Do you guys think it's still relevant in today's world? If so, for how long do you think it will last and/or what might replace it?

Still very relevant. While use may have peaked a few years ago, a full third of the top 10,000 sites on the internet still use it.
