Question Does this book teach C# as well?

Hi there,

I am really looking into purchasing this book, however I have one question that wasn't really answered in the description.

From what I gather, this book is for the beginner in ASP.NET 4.0 Development, that said - does it assume any prior programming experience? (including C#/VB, but not limited to those two). If not, do you believe that this book gives a good primer in C# as well? I know there's a dedicated book on beginning C# 2010, but for sake of time I would like to read the 840 pages of this book instead of both this and 1080 pages of the other.

Evidently, the other book would cover more detail on C#, though I just wonder if this one will explain to me the basics of it, too.

Well i am now on chapter 8 in the book.

The book is actually aimed at beginners who want to make a website using the ASP.NET 4 technologies. So far, from what i know from the book prior programming knowledge isn't needed but would be a plus. But like i said this is not needed.

Also, there is a chapter on C# and VB.NET programming in the book but if you are looking in learning C# and want to learn all the stuff you can do in C# you better get another book. Since this book is intended for ASP.NET and is rather limited on the programming side of advanced stuff.

However, i am myself an PHP Expert who wanted to learn more about ASP.NET 4 and i have to say that this is probably the best learning book on the subject. The author made a fantastic job. I would greatly recommand this book to anyone who want to learn about ASP.NET 4.

Hi there,

To continue what Rushino said: yes, the book does teach you the basics of C#. It doesn't go as far as the dedicated Beginning or Professional C# books do of course, but you learn the basics of using C# (and VB) to build flexible and dynamic ASP.NET web sites.
