Best Download ASP.Net 2010
Hi Imar and others,
Looks like a nice looking forum and I am like the colors on your website Imar, and you are a cool looking dude from your picture, and looking forward to reading your 5-star book.
I am delving into a project in Web Developer 2008 Express with a book on ASP 2.0 but I have ordered your new book "Beginning ASP.NET 4: in C# and VB" which looks great, and I have programmed and web designed with Dreamweaver and familiar with C# and VB. I have downloaded C++ 2010 to use in the future.
Now I want to download Web Developer 2010 for my new book which will be here on Friday. I would like to get a head start on the download, as it will take a few hours for me to get it. What is the best route? Just the Web Developer 2010?

Hi there,
Yes, you should get yourself a copy of Visual Web Developer Express Edition 2010. You can download it using the Web Platform Installer (WPI) from this site: http://www.microsoft.com/express/Web/
Make sure you also install SQL Server 2008 Express edition.
Have fun with the book!
Imar

That's good; then you're ready to roll when VWD is done installing.
If you can't wait until Friday, check out the downloadable PDF of Chapter 1: http://www.wrox.com/WileyCDA/WroxTit...470502215.html
That way, you can install and follow along right away.
Cheers,
Imar

Thanks for letting me start early
Hi Imar,
I have been using PHP on my website (Windows Server), but I have been looking for a new programming position for my other job. And there are a couple of clients that want ASP.Net skills, and I studied this about three years ago.
So tomorrow I will start the new 2010 VWD and am looking excitedly to building a website. I think a potential employer keeps looking at my website to see if I have made any progress with ASP.Net as he is looking for someone good with Master Pages.

Book in Hand and Raring to Go
Well, I have the book and getting through the first chapter. I know that I know the IDE from other .NET products, but it's good review, plus so many new things. I like the idea of doing this with either VB or C#. Haven't decided how I'm going to do this, but I have both downloads in their own directories off the C: drive.

Take a look at page 35, right under Figure I-2 for some tips about following along using both languages at the same time.
Cheers,
