Default Chap. 4-Can't find Cookies?

Just finished the dynamic themes 226-232 and I'm going to go over it again, I have a C- understanding as of now. But I am getting it. But I tried to find the cookie file which I assume is called preferredTheme.txt. I can't find in Firefox or on my Windows Vista (in search type shell:cookies) and I searched by name and by last modified, and there weren't any new cookies to be found.

I got the two themes to toggle after I removed the styleSheetTheme attribute from the <pages? element in web.config, so I know my cookies file is working, I would like to actually look at the text file?

Did you click on Tools>Internet Options>Settings(in the Browsing History section)>View Files?

All of you're cookie files should be there.

I'm right behind you, just thought I would ask so I will know when I get there.

Also, if you're using IE 8, press F12 to bring up the IE Developer Tools. Then the Cache menu has various options related to cookies.

You can see cookies for a site in Firefox using the Page Info screen (Tools | Page Info). Then click Details....

Hope this helps,

Imar

Thanks Brian & Imar,

I see the cookies and also the path in IE. Not sure of Firefox's path, but can search it. I was looking for the Cookie in Firefox: Tools, Options, Privacy Tab , Show Cookies. But using Page Info from Tools menu will be in memory cells in my head somewhere now!;_)

I am slowing down a bit before finishing this chapter, and creating a new site, sort of parallel to this book's site. My website www.bdtcomp.com uses PHP pages and CSS, so I am going to change it to ASP.NET with a redirect of the PHP pages. Pretty dramatic, but I want a makeover.

I have a large site (over 160 pages in PHP, mostly HTTML & CSS no programming) that might be cool in ASP.NET because it's about WWII and my uncle's role in the war and others. And I think a calendar embedded in would look cool. It's at lettersfromasoldier.com . It's to large to mess with for now!
