Default Chpt 12 - Error opening database in VS2012

Hi

I am running through your excellent book using VS 2012 RC and SQL Server 2008 R2. I am at the start of chapter 12 but cannot connect to the database.

My error is "This database file is not compatible with the current instance of SQL Server. To resolve this issue, you must upgrade the database file by creating a new data connection, or you must modify the existing connection to this database file."

***********
Sorry, didn't see that there is an appendix to get going with SQL Server 2008. Is it a big recommendation to install Express to follow the exercises even though I have SQL Server 2008 installed?

Default Appendix B?

Does the answer to what I am looking for lie in Appendix B perhaps? Should I work through Appendix B before I start chapter 12?

Yes, absolutely. Many example, in my book, but also many example from other books or blog posts, assume the presence of SqlExpress. Having it on your local machine makes development a lot easier. You can easily install them side by side without any issues.

Cheers,

Imar
