Hi Imar,

While working on this exercise, I didn't see any code directly setting the default.aspx page as the page to go to after successfully logging in.

How does the site know to go to default.aspx page?

Take a look at page 587. The config file supports a setting called DestinationPageUrl which defaults to Default.aspx if you don't specify it explicitly.
