Hi there,

When you say "read vb.net from cover to cover" which book do you mean? Pro ASP.NET? If so, you probably want to read it cover and just skim sections you're already familiar with.

If you mean a dedicated Pro book, you definitely want to read it as the two ASP.NET books only introduce VB.NET but don't go into great depths.

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar (how about u)
First I'm using VB.net in code behind to program asp.net web page.
I mean: now, after few weeks I will finish from beginning asp.net 4 -in vb and c#-(your book, frankly the best book in asp.net at my opinion) and I prepare now to professional asp.net 4.5 -in vb and c#- book

in the section in your book beginning asp.net 4 Who This Book Is For, you wrote (Do you have a strong preference for Visual Basic over C# or the other way around? Or do you think both languages are equally cool? Or maybe you haven’t made up your mind yet and want to learn both languages? Either way, you’ll like this book because all code examples are presented in both languages!)

and In the professional book of asp.net 4.5 Who This Book Is For (In addition to working with web technologies, we also assume that you understand basic programming constructs, such as variables, For Each loops, and object-oriented programming.)

because when I see to professional asp.net 4.5 in vb and c# book I think there is some hard to understand vb source code (code behind)

my Q is there need to read beginning visual basic 2012(for example) and then read professional visual basic 2012 and .Net 4.5 ? or general concepts about this language (vb.net) are enough ?

Yes, I would get an additional book on VB; either a beginners book or a more advanced book, depending on your comfort level with VB and programming in general. Both the ASP.NET books just cover the basics of VB.NET and to build extensive web sites you probably need more than just the basics.
