Default MSDE Problems

Im am having sever troubles installing msde. I download the sql2kdesksp3 from microsoft and then I run it. Its not at all like the example in chapter 3. Nothing is installed! I have to do statements in command prompt, statesment which I dont understand and im probably not doing them right either. After a lot of testing and trying I finally got it installed. But it didnt say MSSQL$NetSDK, it said MSSQL Server. And from on there Im stuck. I have tried with (local)NetSDK in vs.studio but it just says it cant open a connection. My computer name is Kris, I think I should use that instead of (local) and I dont know at all what they mean by NetSDK.
Can anyone help me?

Regards Kristoffer

Kristoffer,

I went thru exact same exercise... then found an article that helped (http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=312779):

To install MSDE

From the Start menu, choose Run.
Type C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET\Setup\MSDE\ and click OK.
Double-click the file named setup.exe.

That started the MSSQL$NetSDK

I now have a new problem: it seems to run ok most of the time, I can connect but for then suddenly will take as much as 99% of my cpu. Have not worked that one out yet.

Hope this helps,

Eugenia

This is probably too late to get answered, but if you have installed the .Net Framework and have not installed the MSDE data examples, is there some reason why you cannot?

I read the above post and went to the site to find this:

Note For data scenarios, make sure that MDAC is installed prior to running the .NET Framework SDK version 1.1 setup program. MDAC 2.6 is required, but MDAC 2.7 is recommended.

Due to little experience with the .NET framework and just learning this, I am not sure what is proper.
Thanks
