Default the compiler does not find x509.*;

I have bcprov-jdk15-125.jar installed and it worked when I tried according to chapter 1. But When I try to compile Utils for chapter 7 I receive this compiling error.

chapter7\Utils.java:11: package org.bouncycastle.x509 does not exist
import org.bouncycastle.x509.*;
^
chapter7\Utils.java:12: package org.bouncycastle.x509.extension does not exist
import org.bouncycastle.x509.extension.*;
^
What is the problem?
Sincerly

The book is written as of BC 1.28 or later. If you have to use 1.25 you will find equivalent classes for X.509 certificate generation in org.bouncycastle.jce but there is no equivalent in 1.25 for the org.bouncycastle.x509.extension package - I would strongly recommend updating if possible.

David

Thanks David for your answer. I visited http://www.bouncycastle.org/latest_releases.html and downloaded bcprov-jdk15-130.jar and the file was zipped. When I unzipped the file I could not find the jar file I found a directory with a lot of classes but not the jar file that I need to update. Please tell me how I can get bcprov-jdk15-130.jar as a jar file when I unzip the file.
Many Thanks
Maroun

The jar file appears to be a zip file as they share a common format. When you download the file rather than let zip unpack it just do a "save file to disk" and you should find it works okay.

David
