Default Chapter 12 Pg. 430 problems

When I try to create a custom connection, I get an error. I've checked and rechecked all the steps. I do not get a
"Connection was made successfully." box when I try to test it, rather a "Could not find an installable ISAM." error.
Please help,
Tom

Hi there,

What OS are you using? This error is often related to the absence of required drivers.

Can you post the code for your connection string? Also, are you trying to open a database on your local or a remote machine?

Cheers,

Imar

I'm using XP Pro and I'm trying to open a database on my local machine. Here's the connection string code:

<%
' FileName="Connection_ado_conn_string.htm"
' Type="ADO"
' DesigntimeType="ADO"
' HTTP="false"
' Catalog=""
' Schema=""
Dim MM_connTheSoccerSite_STRING
MM_connTheSoccerSite_STRING = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheSoccerSite\database\T heSoccerSite.mdb;UserId=admin;Password="
%>

You're not going to believe this (or maybe you are ;))

I just reproduced the problem on my local machine with your code. Turned out UserID and User ID are two different things. Change your string to:

MM_connTheSoccerSite_STRING = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheSoccerSite\database\T heSoccerSite.mdb;User Id=admin;Password="

with an additional space between User and ID.

Cheers,

Imar
