Default how the cooking place images was created ?

I am new to web design and i followed the book to create the table structure for the cooking place template and to insert the images.
I suppose that these images have already been cut by an originally designed image like the one on the top of page 59. But how can I cut this image to the specific pieces? As far as i know this can be done by Fireworks. is this correct ? Can you please give me specific guidance on how to cut the original image myself.

Thanks a lot

Yes, you can use Fireworks for that. It has some excellent slicing options that allows you to drag shapes over the image, and then convert the image to slices with the HTML to reconstruct the image in the browser.

Fireworks used to create a crap load of bloated HTML, but recent versions (MX, MX 2004) behave pretty good and generate pretty clean markup.....
