Default DSN-less Connection Strings DWMX04

Heya all. Can anyone help with this chapter.
I have read from pages 383 to 401. I have not been able to secure the database because I am using Windows XP Home,. I dint not set up the DNS Connection Strings as it says not to because we will be using the DNS-less Conncetion Strings.

From there i get to page 400 item 5.

Becuase I dont have XP Professional is have set up my website on a remote server with my ISP. This has been good so far.

In Local View, I created the Database folder and inserted the 'TheSoccerSite.mbd' folder in it. When I try to upload this folder to the remote server i get an error message saying, "An FTP Error occoured - cannot put TheSoccerSite.mbd. 550 Database/TheSoccerSite.mbd: No such file or directory".

Can anyone suggest what I have done here.

Thank You

Malcolm R.

Is your ISP offering you a separate Database folder with a DSN?

In that case, it's OK to use a DSN. They'll put the database is a separate folder that cannot be downloaded directly, but that you can access through code with a DSN....

Not sure why you would get this FTP error though. Is there already a Databases folder at the remote server?

Does this help?

Heya, thanks for that. I did not have any database localy, but found that there was still an old folder on the testing server called database with a file inside. I deleted it and the new database folder with database file uploaded.

I will continue from here n see how we go.

Once again,. Thanks heaps. Your suggestion worked again.

Thanks Imar.
