Using Server Behaviors
Hi again!
I am trying to add some server behaviors to restrict access to a page( On chapter 10 on the soccer site), however when I go to the Server Behaviors panel it says I havenât set up my testing server, and hence will not let me add any behaviors using the plus button. Iâm not to sure what I havenât done to set up my test server. My Server model is ASP VBscript, access local/network, Testing server C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheSoccerSite\ and URL prefix is http://localhost/thesoccersite/ . Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Do you see the checklist on the Server Behaviors panel? Is there a check mark in front of the first two items? What do you see when you click the Testing Server link on that panel?

BTW, is the file you're changing part of the site? Did you open it through the Sites panel, or is it an external file?

Hi Imar,
Yes the page is part of the site, I opened it up through the sites panel (its the admin.asp page on pg 353 in the book to be precise! ;0)) I get the check list with the first 2 items ticked, but the 3 is not, and when i click on the third item (set up the site's testing server)it it brings up the site definition screen, with the test server settings, which I thought I have set up already.

And are the settings filled in correctly on that dialog?

Yes I think so, the same as I mentioned in my first post,
Server model is ASP VBscript
access local/network
Testing server C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\TheSoccerSiteRefresh remote file list automaticaly is ticked
URL prefix is http://localhost/thesoccersite/
I think its right??

Weird. I hadn't really seen this problem before, but trying to recreate your problem, all of a sudden I had it as well. Clicking Testing Server brings up the right dialog, with all the correct details filled in. However, the check mark won't appear.
I recall having seen this problem before on a MM mailing list; maybe their Support site has something about this.
I created a new site with slightly different settings and that worked fine.... Weird.

Ive tried playing around with the them but i cant get the 3rd bit ticked!! Do you know any way to just bypass this tick bit? Seems odd it wont let me add Behaviors just because of this! Could you say how you slightly changed your settings and I will try give that a go so it ticks! lol! Thanks again!!

Interesting that a firewall can cause this problem. I could reproduce the problem, but never got a warning or a log entry in my firewall.
Good luck with the remainder of the book. Are you enjoying it?
