building templates
Hello I am a beginner and on page 153 of the mx 2004
book I am having difficulty. I have created a template but when I try to create a page and save it as recipes.htm I get an error telling me that a body tag is unbalanced. to me it looks ok. at any rate, it will not save it and tells me theres a netscape error even though I have not configured for anything other than ie. I will try to attach the file to this message. the end of line 37 seems to be the problem but when i delete the bad code it indicates there is no change. any ideas??? dennis skinner

Hi Dennis,
Can you post the code for the page?

Hi Dennis,
Thank you for your personal message. I'll respond here if you don't mind.
With "post your code" I meant the actual code from the page in Dreamweaver. Simply select all the page code in Dreamweaver, copy it and paste it in a reply in this thread. You can use the toolbar button for code ((#) if you want to change the font for the code.
Does this help??

Hi Imar Thanks for the reply. I have destroyed the original problem by going back and working without adding the "activate the rollover images, step 4 on page 152. I wasn't sure what that meant so I did the try it out steps from page 81 which I thought was what was being asked for. It didn't work as I previously stated so I went back and deleted the code and went forward from there without activating the buttons. I am wondering what you mean by post the code. can i attach the file or do you mean by post the code that I would enter the code into one of these messages by using the pound sign above. Let me know and I will see if I can duplicate this error. again, thanks for the response. dennis skinner

Hi Yes, sorry I hadn't read your message before I sent the email i just sent. so yes, that answers my post question. I will get back to you once I have recreated the problem, if I can. Is there anyplace I can find a full set of the proper coding so I can use it as a crosscheck. if so, where should it be and how can I get it to use as a crosscheck. thanks again dennis skinner
I didn't realize I was sending you a message before in the wrong place, ie the personal message so from now on I will respond here.

Hi I have gone on in the book. I believe I know what was wrong or at least one thing. I was under the impression that I had made it xhtml compliant and upon printing out index.htm from the unzipped chaps 1-6 and matching it to my printout from before of my problem I discovered that it wasn't. that was at least part of my problem. One question I need answered. An unzipped 1-6 chapter yields only index.htm and the images folder. nothing else, is this correct??

Unfortunately, yes. There is no source available for The Cooking Place website.
You could download the source for the MX version of the book to get at least an idea of how things should look. Be aware of many differences between the MX and MX 2004 versions of the book...
