Default Live Data View Error - Chapter 16 page 602

I have setup IIS on my windows 2000 machine. Have created new site C:\inetpub\wwwroot\MediaEdge to store all files. DB connection tests OK. When I click the live data view I am getting the error: "Microsoft OLE DB provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005) [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] General error unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x75c Thread 0x824 DBC 0x13d8fb4 Jet"
/mediaedge/buildingBlock_d48o7gmqer.asp line 12

The path seems to be refering to a temporary file even though I have saved the buildingBlock.asp file first.
Any help much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Mark Day.

Hi Mark,

This is most likely a permissions issue. Check out the following article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...NoWebContent=1 for more information.

Note that it should all be one URL, but the forum is messing things up.....

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar,
Thanks for the reply. No option to set permissions on registry keys. Not sure why? I am running IIS on my local windows 2k machine(NTFS). Anyway I have cured the problem, you are right, it is a permissions issue. Setting the following NTFS permissions will cure the error.
Give the wwwroot folder modify permissions for the IUSR_computername and IWAM_computername

Back to the rest of the book, Thanks

Mark Day.

Are you sure you used regedt32 instead of regedit (what you usually use to access the registry)??

regedt32 has that fancy Win 3.11 look and feel but has a few additional options, like the Permissions menu....

Glad it worked out.....

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar,
You were right I used regedit-oops!! Tried regedt32 and can see the security permissions, but these are set OK.
I think it must just have been the IUSR_computername and IWAM_computername

Thanks again,

Mark Day.
