What version of Dreamweaver are you using?

The Main Menu has an Edit | Preferences menu item and AFAIK, it has always been there.....
Are you looking on the Main Menu, and not at, say, the Expand Files panel which has its own menu?

Hi Imar
Yes I am using the Main edit tab but this does not have a dialogue heading in the left hand column which begins with General and ends with Validator. Also what does AFAIK mean?

AFAIK, AFAIK means As Far As I Know.... ;)

When you start Dreamweaver, you have a large Main Menu with items like File and Edit. The Preferences dialog is on the Edit menu of the Main Menu....

Hi Imar

Refering to the preference you are refering to what does the screen look like. I do not have Always Never prompt. Nothing like this at all.

I am refering to what I think is meant which results in a large screen with a large list on the left.

Have you a copy of the book handy to see what I mean?

Yes, I do have a copy of the book.

Try this:

1. Start Dreamweaver
2. Make sure the Files panel is not expanded and choose Edit | Preferences.... Alternatively, press Ctrl+U
3. The Prefs dialog appears. There is a list with categories on the left. Choose General.
4. On the General dialog you'll see a label "Update links when moving files" with a drop-down for Always, Never and Prompt.

Don't you get this dialog? What version of Dreamweaver are you using? And on what platform / OS?

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar

Got it Thanks.

I was looking for "Dialogue" as a choice in the left hand side and not seeing this I had not looked on the right at all. General was the answer.

Thanks again

Jacky.
