I have entered the administrator login username as 'tomcat' and password as 'tomcat' as the book suggested during installation.
But, when I tried login as that username to access the Manager utility in the following URL in Chapter 1
http://localhost:8080/manager/html

I get the message "access to the requested resource has been denied".

Could anyone make any suggestions?

I have solved the problem by adding the 'manager' into the role in the tomcat-user.xml file.

Silly mistake.:D

Is that all you did i had that very same problem, and tried that adding the role manger to my tomcat user name as the documnetation stated but I still get the same access denied message.
