Default Universal Binaries

When I tried to run the Chapter 1 Slide Show program on an Intel iMac all I got was a blank window. I assume this is because the program was compiled for a Power PC Mac. Hence what should I change in the source code and my procedure for compiling the source code so the program will run on an Intel iMac?

Isn't it well? Isn't it the third point of the "Try It Yourself"? Even if your app is for PPC, Rosetta should can run it. `can you acces the "Slide Show => Add Slide" menu item?

One, When I try to run the application all I get is a blank window. The blank window title is "untitled" and there is no menu bar.
Two, I have been disappointed twice by Rosetta. Rosetta wouldn't run this application and I couldn't install a Logitech Control Panel for a two button mouse.
Three, when I tried to compile the slide show program I get a bootstrap_register() failed and a failed to name Mach Port error messages.

I can see now I will need to spend a lot more time debugging this slide show program so it will run on an Intel iMac. I was hoping somebody had a quick answer. There appears to be a lot more subtle problems in getting a program to run on either a PowerPC or an Intel iMac, Universal Binaries, than what the reviews of iMacs led me to believe.

I am completely confused now. I can not repeat the problem I had 2 weeks ago and Slide Master runs as advertised. Most likely my problems were caused 100% by operator error. I certainly can't blame my problems on incompatibilities between the book code and an Intel iMac.

I'm glad to hear things are working now. I don't have access to an intel mac at the moment and can't speculate as to what might have gone wrong. I agree that the application should run just fine under Rosetta.

In fact, I can't think of any trouble you might get into on an intel Mac. Even the Carbon chapter should work fine.
