Default Should have been easy to see, but I missed it!

First off. Let me tell everyone that I picked up this book to learn VB because programing has always peeked my interest. I am what some consider an Advanced Home user. Meaning that even though I did achieve my MCSE (win2K), Net+, A+, CCNA. all while off work due to an accident. I do not practice these skills as a job! I know a great deal about computers, enough to be dangerous to my self (thats why the wife made me build her, her own computer).

With that said, If some one else is in the same boat, you may run into this same stupid problem!!!! I can't believe it took me a half hour to figure it out!

While following chapter 3. Doing the "Try it out". I was adding code to the previous program like the stated.

After that was done, I had to edit code in a precious button click event. Thats when I noticed the errors at the bottom of express!

It took me 1/2 hr to figure out that in my hast I had added the new function out side of the "End Class", thus rendering the code useless!

Just something for newbies like me to remember!

Sorry bout the resume, just wanted a newbie to realize that even those of us with some small amount of experience make mistakes too!

Default Thanks!

Thank you for posting this! I did a small amount of VB in college a few years ago and I've decided to get back into it again to take it further. I just made exactly the same mistake and it really confused me!

Cheers,
Andy

HEY I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE BOOK DIDN'T COVER THIS IN THE EXERCISE AND DIDN'T SAY WHERE TO PLACE THE CODE. THE AUTHORS SHOULD BE MORE EXPLICIT IN THE BOOK. I HOPE THERE AREN'T TOO MANY MORE OMISSIONS.
ANDYLITES.
