Smile Remote Access To Data

I am using the example found in chapter 16. When I publish This ; or any other solution that I build; and install it on another machine on my network I get the error 26. which references that it cannot find the server. I have exausted all helps & Forums that I can find. tried all the suggestions. still no help.

IF I turn off the Windows Firewall Then run the program from a remote Windows xp Machine. All works Great. However I dont want to leave the firewall down all the time.

If I leave the firewall up, and set the inbound rules exceptions in the advanced Settings to accept udp POrts 1433 And 1434 And Tcp 1433 & 1434 Then the first time I try to connect I get an error. THen Second time however, I am able to partially connect and view & Edit & Save some of the data.

With a remote windows 7 Machine, I am never allowed to connect to the server with the firewall down on the server. I get an error message stating "Logoin Failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with windows authentication. With the firewall up, windows7 works like windows xp.

Sounds to me like a windows 7 quirk with the firewall, does anybody know of a solution?

Microsoft to the rescue. who knew??
