Beginning Oracle Apex, p. 76
flaskvacuum:
It is difficult to resolve your problem without viewing your code. After going thru the entire book, I am making the following suggestions and give you the notes I made to myself. - I understand the frustration and I am not new to Oracle, but I started APEX three times on the 3rd round, I checked off each step after completion;
- According to my APEX book, Dynamic Lists of Values (LOV) begins at the bottom of page 69;
- On page 70, addition to the check marks on numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4, on number 4, I have underline "....and change the type to Dynamic." this is important;
- On page 71, the first paragraph is underline, which is located under screen image 3-17. On number 5, on the code line, " order by 1" , made the note, I underline number 1 and have the note: "And not by PRODUCT-ID"; Numbers 5, 6, 7, and 8 are checked off and underline. Number 8 is very important because it establishes the master-detail relationship, which is used through out the book, why? because it is a shared component. My personal note states- assigns POV to page and the last sentence on this page states this should be Page 5. If not then you have skipped something, which is very easy to do.
- Another thing to do is verify that you have the Primary Keys in each table the same as in the book, including upper and lowercase letters.
The screem images are accurate and match the code. Also pay attention to the errata sheet as well. Let me know if this helps.
