Default I have question, is not about code

I was thinking about a simple website, and I started see the write way to make it because of the example in the book, specially chapters 13 and 14.
this question for the people who have experience,
Do you think the code in chapters 13, 14 are really kind of professional code?
I mean
Can I start writing my website (the first functions and class)? OR
I need to read the whole book and even need to read another books too?
If I write many of the code now, and I learned something new in the latest chapters can I modify my codes easy or it is gonna be confusing?

thank you
