Default Chapter 6 commit.php

Ok, Either people who has been reading this book has done so blindly(By the way the book is awesome) or I am going crazy. the commit.php described on chapter 6. Does not have the code for the edit option but for the add and nobody so far seemed to notice. The edit is suppose to update and existing record not add a new one. Can somebody please confirm this. Thanks so much

Well, I can confirm it. On page 172, the file commit.php does NOT have the edit option. However, have you reached page 182 yet? If not, keep going :) I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for the reply. I am actually on page 300.(As you can see I really wanna learn php). The book gets better and better. I found a problem with the multipart e-mail section but other than that it has been all good. :-D

What was the problem you found? Was it the e-mail variables? We had a problem with the editors doing a global search/replace on the book, because e-mail is their accepted spelling of the word "email." Unfortunately, that search/replace also changed the variables in the code, which as you have no doubt discovered is NOT allowed.

Glad you are enjoying the book. :)

If you would like help with your learning of PHP, I recommend visiting phpbuilder.com, if you haven't already. You will find most of the authors there, with recent posts.

Mike: BuzzLY (that's me)
Yann: bunkermaster
Elizabeth: Elizabeth (try to figure out how she came up with her user name ;))
Gary: trooper (haven't seen him there in while, though)
Jeremy: stolzyboy

Make sure you drop in and say hello, and tell them BuzzLY sent ya.

Can't seem to get the edit part of the index.php file on page 182 in chapter 6 to work. The add and delete functions work.

The funny thing is that I'm not getting any error, it's telling me it is done. But the entries aren't changed in the database.

Any ideas?

Does any one have the three files necessary to make this work coded correctly and working that they can send me. My email graham@thing.net

thanks and help

G
